When firefighter Luke Perisin sold a raffle ticket to win a 2009 Harley Davidson Street Glide, he gave the ticket buyer the 3631 shirt off his back.  

Firefighters flipped pancakes for child abuse prevention

Laguna Beach firefighters flipped pancakes and raised $2,000 for a child abuse prevention fund on Memorial Day, marking a successful twice-a-year event that has been a firefighter and Exchange Club of Laguna Beach tradition for 25 years.   Sande St. John, an Exchange Club member for over 15 years, said the fundraiser continues to be a success because of the attendance of the Laguna Beach firefighters.   “They are the whole event,” St. John said. “People come to the fundraiser to see them.”  

OCFA's July 1st celebration of Academy 36

Academy 36 marched onto the training center grounds of the Orange County Fire Authority’s Headquarters to wild applause, pipes and drums and honor guard, at the OCFA’s July 1 celebration of its latest graduating class.   Cheered by a large crowd of 200 family members, friends, elected city officials and Fire Authority officers, the 24 men of Academy 36 represent the last scheduled class of an elite training program now threatened by California’s budget crisis.
