Vice President Emeritus Dave Thompson

Dave Thompson started his fire service career in Irvine, 1975, and opened the first Orange County paramedic unit in 1976. He went on to serve the city of Lake Forest for 11 years and rounded out his career in Coto de Caza. Thompson earned his BA in Political Science from the University of California Irvine in 1975, “when UCI was nothing but a trailer,” and is also a state certified paralegal. Thompson retired from his post as vice president of the OC Firefighters board of directors in 2007, after serving on the board for six years. During that time, Thompson also acted as an OCERS trustee where he helped negotiate OCERS contracts for the OC Firefighters. Thompson believes his successors’ primary objective will be to “maintain the gains we’ve made,” and to counter attempts by OC newspapers to “paint public employees as evil and the reason for state and county budget deficits.”
