Yesterday, late afternoon in the El Paso hot sun, on an ordiarny sunday all was quiet. Then a fellow fire fighter walked in to anounce an email from Fire Chief D’Agostino.
The email read:
It is with great sorrow that I pass on to you the loss of our brother Chris Hayes. His battle with pancreatic cancer ended this afternoon.

A Special Meeting is scheduled at the Union Hall on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in accordance with Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting is to approve the Political Action Committee endorsement recommendation for Mayor of Albuquerque. The meeting will start promptly at 6:00pm.

Attached is the informational letter and application regarding the MPFF Educational Grants. Two Grants will be awarded at the State Convention in September.
The deadline for submitting the application to the MPFF office is Monday, September 18, 2017. If your local has received this Grant in the past 5 years, you are not eligible.

Foundation 58 Fundraiser 06/29/17 - Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association
I am writing to you today asking for your help with our 2nd Annual 58 Hour Fight Against Cancer. My father, former PPFFA Member Gabriel A. Mhley of Hazleton, lost his battle with cancer on July 7, 2003. His last 58 hours began on July 5th at 10am and ended on July 7th at 8pm.

Passing of Dave Carlson 06/28/17 - Hoffman Estates Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 2061
It is with great sadness that we notify you all of the passing of another of our past members, FF Dave Carlson. Dave passed away yesterday, June 25 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. After battling a short illness, Dave passed peacefully with his family at his side.
Dave was born September 15, 1941 and was 75 years old.

Mark Glenn "Robo" Robinson, 51, of Westfield, passed away on the morning of Monday, June 19, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 18, 1966 to Dennis and Marsha (Glenn) Robinson in Noblesville, Indiana.
Mark was a 1984 graduate of Westfield High School and was a firefighter for the City of Carmel Fire Department for 18 years.

A Special Meeting is scheduled at the Union Hall for June 28, 2017 in accordance with Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting is to approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the IAFF Local 244 and Bernalillo County pursuant to Article 41, Section 41.7 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. L21 is looking for volunteers to help at the annual Picnic at Battle Creek Park on July 18th. We have a morning session from 8am-12pm and afternoon session from 12pm -4pm. If the website is full we can always use an extra hand so please make an effort to come out. Bring your family and enjoy a fun day catching up with friends and retired veteran firefighters.

In light of Mark Frongello's unexpected passing, some friends of the family are getting together to raise funds to alleviate the financial burden brought on by the funeral cost. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.

Death of William Warwick, Knoxville Local 65 06/19/17 - IAFF 14th District
It is sad to report the death of William “Bill” Warwick, former President of Knoxville Local 65. Bill was President of Local 65 for many years and was very active in the state association and the IAFF as delegate to those conventions. He was an original member of the IAFF Committee on Assistance to Non Collective Bargaining States.

Fellow Brother Mike Freeman, South Metro Fire Engineer on his 43rd year with the department, has fallen on hard times. Diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, he and his family need our help. Roepke Promoted to Chief 06/17/17 - IAFF Local 3785

The Pleasant Prairie Police and Fire Commission has named department veteran Craig S. Roepke as the new chief of the village’s fire and rescue department.
Roepke has been with the department since 1982. He served as a paid-on-call member of the department, and as paid-on-call lieutenant and captain until 2009, when he became a full time “firemedic.
